Understanding and acceptance of the therapeutic value of Cannabidiol (CBD) intreating various human health issues has improved dramatically. Increasing numbers of pet owners are also discovering the benefits that CBD can bring to the health and wellbeing of their furry friends.

Research into the therapeutic use of CBD for dogs, cats and other mammals is ongoing and highly promising. There is considerable anecdotal evidence coming from the USA and Canada asserting the positive effect that CBD has had in helping to alleviate pets’ anxious behaviours, seizures, and osteo-arthritic pain. Importantly, research is also showing little to no observed side effects from CBD treatment

How Does CBD Work?

The endocannabinoid system associated with the central and peripheral nervous systems of all mammals is known to play an important regulatory function within the body. Naturally produced endocannabinoids bind with the body’s CB1 and CB2receptors. These receptors are known to regulate balance or homeostasis in the body. The natural CBD utilised in our product is a full spectrum phyto-cannabinoid derived from industrial hemp and is known to interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors to influence the body’s natural regulatory processes.

Most medical professionals now agree that CBD can impact a range of medical conditions including anxiety, insomnia, arthritic pain and muscle seizures. CBD is believed to benefit animal well-being, contentment, and general health by calming anxieties, soothing pain, and helping both young and old animals to keep moving and playing.

How and when do I give my pet a Pets & Pals Pet Treat?

When starting your pet on any new food or supplement, it is always advisable to start with small amounts and closely monitor your pet for any changes in behaviour and/or physical condition. With small dogs or cats, commence with half a portion, increasing to a maximum of two treats per day. Larger dogs can start with one treat per day. Observe your pet closely and increase the daily amount given until efficacious. It may also be helpful to give your pet a calming treat about thirty minutes prior to any expected anxiety-inducing situation. Although CBD is 100% non-toxic, there will be little gain in increasing the amount given beyond three treats per day.
